In the Northeast, we are privileged to have some of the best land for growing apples – McIntosh, Empire and Cortland thrive. The blend of soil and topography make for ideal growing conditions as the season transitions from hot summer to cool autumn. Newer varieties such as Honeycrisp have adapted well, flourishing in the New England climate. Apples are picked at their optimum time for the best flavor – accounting for starches, sugars and pressures. See our lineup for timing.
Our Role
At our packing facility, apples arrive from throughout New England. The apples, in large bins, are dropped in a bath to be washed and sorted for defects, grade for color and sized. The apples are then packaged according to needs of retailers – into trays, poly bags, pouch bags or totes. Our Yankee brand is on every box and given a barcode providing information that can trace those apples right back to the lot in the orchard. We pack to fill orders small and large, domestic and export, commercial and individual.
